The Design Tower

video

Housed in an historic 1862 old sugar refinery in Dublin's Grand Canal Quay, the seven-story Design Tower is home to a group of skilled designers and makers. Brimming with some of Ireland's top creative talent, you'll find goldsmiths, jewellery designers, ceramics artists, sculptors, painters, textile, paper and painting conservationists and gallery spaces. This five minute film opens the doors to the studios and introduces you to some of the personalities, stories and bespoke designs created in the tower.

Bags of Chat

These cheeky slogan carriers had me at 'douche- bag'! Hand-printed by MeandEmee, otherwise known as Irish sisters Louise and Emer O’Leary and topped with colourful Italian leather handles, the girls quirky collection includes other pun-tastic expressions such as scum-bag, a dirt-bag and bag-lady.
See for yourself here.

The Brave Beast

We've been really lucky over at the Damn Fine Print Studio to land our latest collaboration with one of Ireland's top illustrators Chris Judge. Chris's latest project is the new adorable childrens book 'The Brave Beast' the follow up to last years hit The Lonely Beast. To celebrate the launch Chris has enlisted our help to produce a set of five limited edition-ed screenprints entitled Beastly Hobbies. Here's a couple of snap shots from the studio.

30 editions of each print will be for sale from the March 01, from here and if you are in the Dublin Area next Saturday March 9th, the book launch at the Lighthouse Cinema promises to be fun-packed beastly affair!

Boat Chairs

Found Brendan Lawless's work a few weeks back when these striking Láilis boat chairs literally stopped me in my tracks. Handcrafted in Wicklow, they are based on Irish boat builder's design and practice methods dating from the 1830's. Such unique craftsmanship and really beautiful in the flesh.

His 'Baidín' (meaning little boat in Irish) brings two of the chairs together to create the cutest nautical baby-basket stand. You can read more here.
